OVTC About Us

The Ottawa Valley Triumph Club, founded in 1972, is a group of about one hundred enthusiasts in the Ottawa Valley (Canada) interested in preserving and enjoying all models of Triumph automobiles. Owning a Triumph is not a requirement for membership. The club tries to offer something for everyone. Best of all, however, is the spirit of friendship and camaraderie shared between enthusiasts of the Triumph marquee. Our events are never closed to non-members. Our calendar of events is in each issue of the Overdrive and can also be found in this web site. Pick out an event and come join us - we're looking forward to meeting you.

[Dec 15 2007] - Tuesday December 18 – OVTC Christmas Party
We will be having our annual end of year celebration on Tuesday December 18 at the YangMing Buffet. The reservation is for 7:00 pm. The YangMing Buffet restaurant is located at 1547 Merivale Avenue. We held our party there last year. They have a wide selection of good foods, so there should be something for everyone. It would be greatly appreciated if you could RSVP to Don at dleblanc@businessaccelerators.ca so we can update the reservation. I know this is a busy time of year for everyone, but I look forward to seeing you there. We usually have a little visit from Santa as well.
Please note that because we are meeting on December 18 for this special evening there is no club meeting at the Manordale Community Centre this month.

[Dec 15 2007] - Saturday January 19 – Annual Winter Bash
Mark your calendars!!! The annual OVTC Winter Bash will be at the home of Tim and Sue Dyer during the afternoon and early evening of Saturday January 19.

The Winter Bash is a pot luck party held every year in January. It is a great social occasion and an opportunity to bring out your favourite food and share it with your fellow OVTC members. More information and a reminder of directions to the Dyer’s house will be coming a bit closer to the date. Just make sure you reserve that Saturday afternoon on your calendars. It will be the place to be. It’s a lot of fun every year and we have some excellent and creative chefs in this club. Come on out and enjoy. Weather permitting, there will be outdoor activities as well.

OVTC Name Tags
[Dec 15 2007] - Roly Mailloux, our regalia man has had blanks made for name tags. He would like to hear from any member who has not been given a name tag with their registration. Traditionally name tags have also been given to the spouse/partner of a club member. If you would like a name tag for yourself, as well as for your spouse/partner, please e-mail Roly at rdmailloux@sympatico.ca with the details. He would like to have the name tags ready in time for the club Christmas party at 7 p.m. on December 18 at the Buffet Yang Ming Restaurant, 1547 Merivale Road as he will be passing the regalia suitcase over to Ray Tropiano in the new year.

I really don’t want to sound like a broken record here, but this month is elections month again – the year has flown by – and we are again asking for people to step forward and nominate themselves or others for positions on the executive for the coming year.
The OVTC needs people to remain involved if it is going to continue to be relevant and interesting. Any position on the executive for the OVTC is open for new candidates, so this is a great time to volunteer to help out in a bigger way. Our club is only as good as we make it, so please consider stepping forward and putting your name on the list. Fresh ideas and new people are important to keep our club growing and valuable.
Positions to be filled on the executive are:

• Vice President
• Treasurer & Membership
• Regalia
• Newsletter Editor
• Events Coordinator
• Webmaster

On Tuesday October 23, as a special treat for the election, we are once again meeting at Lorenzo’s Pizzeria in the Craig Henry Plaza at the corner of Craig Henry and Chartwell Avenue. It is the same place we went to last year, and isn’t far from the regular meeting place on Knoxdale Avenue. The club will pay for your pizza and soft drinks if you want them. If you wish to have beer or other alcohol, it is your own responsibility to pay for that.
A list of candidates will be published around midday on Tuesday, October 23, but there is always the opportunity given at the meeting for anyone to be nominated on the spot from the people present at the meeting. PLEASE get back to me with your offer of interest in any of the above positions. It would be great to actually have more people interested in the executive positions and have a real election for them sometime.

EVENT ALERT! Classic Air Rallye at Rockcliffe.
[Aug 20 2007] -There is a Classic Air Rallye at Rockcliffe this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday.

Ben Loiselle is the organizer and he is hoping to have some vintage/classic vehicles come to the show to mingle on the infield with the aircraft.

There will be an article in Friday's Driving Section with a photo of a 1932 de Havilland Fox Moth and a couple of Franklins from the late-20s.

The event is at Rockcliffe/Aviation Museum, Sat and Sun, Aug 25 and 26, 9 to 5. Admission is free for people who bring a special car.

Up to 70 vintage aircraft and warbirds are expected over the two days.
