Message from the President - January 2014
Happy New Year to all OVTC Members. I hope everyone had a good Christmas/holiday and that Santa dropped a few Triumph-related goodies down the chimney. 2014 promises to be another big year for the club as we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our formation in 1989. We have a few special plans in the works to mark the occasion, so watch for details in the coming months.
In the immediate future, we have our annual Winter Bash on January 25th. Traditionally we do not hold a regular club meeting in January, but instead have a more social Saturday afternoon at a member’s home. This year André and Laura Rousseau will again be hosting us and details are posted in the Calendar section of the website. All members and their families are invited to show off their culinary skills and relax in some good company.
Mid-February will bring our annual darts tournament with the other British car clubs in the city. Once again we’ll be at the Legion in Barrhaven, so sharpen up your arrows and come on out on February 15th to help us make it a 3-peat for the OVTC in this tournament.
We'll resume regular club meetings on February 25th at the community centre on Knoxdale. Stay tuned for details on what we'll be doing. Hopefully the meeting after that, it will be starting to warm up and we'll be thinking about getting the cars ready for another season on the road. We'll also try to organize our spring Go-Karting and Garage Tours too.
Later in the summer, All British Car Day will also be marking a significant milestone as it holds its 10th event. This is one of the highlight events of the summer and planning will be getting under way shortly to make it a memorable day.
Chuck Hobbs and Mike Graham have been working hard to finalize the resource list that Brian Mills was compiling. This list of local and more distant parts suppliers and service providers will be a valuable tool for all club members, both newcomers to the LBC scene and veteran wrench-turners. This list will be made available on the website and we'll also present it at a club meeting. Thanks to Chuck and Mike for taking this on!
As always, club members are invited to help out in ensuring the club is interesting and useful to its members. Please step forward to present at a club meeting (work you've done on your car, a visit to a car-related location, an update on your restoration progress, an interesting tool you've purchased), organize an event (a drive, a visit to a mechanic, a technical session in your garage/basement, a social gathering), or help out on the Executive. Finally, if you have ideas or comments on what you’d like to get out of the club, please let me or one of the executive know.
Happy 25th Anniversary OVTC.
Cheers,
Martin
