TR7 Unveiling February 1975
by David Huddleson
David noted that 40 years ago (1975) the TR7 made its debut (18 February was supposedly the actual public unveiling in Boca Raton, Florida). David reports that it was a "difficult" launch with about 1/2 of the cars being scavenged for parts to make 17 cars worthy to be loaned out to the Press for evaluation. The build quality of those early cars was supposedly horrible. They called down the Group 44 service team to help get as many cars working before the official launch. The official advertising line was "The Triumph TR7 is an all-new, wedge-shaped sports coupe, with the widest track of any car in its class."
